CARAVAN CRIME PREVENTION North Wales Police want to remind caravan owners that over the closed season there can often be an increase in theft from unoccupied static caravans. GENERAL: Never leave anything on display. We recommend that curtains, blinds and/or nets are left open. This may go against your instincts, but it does make sense as it will show there’s nothing worth breaking in for. Ask your local Crime Prevention Officer for a ‘DON’T BOTHER’ window card. If possible place a card on each side of the caravan. This will help to deter any unwanted attention. Lock and secure all windows and doors before leaving the caravan. LOUNGE: Take home anything of value, such as a TV, DVD player or games consoles. KITCHEN: Leave cupboards open and remove any expensive electrical items. BEDROOMS: Remove any valuables from cupboards. If there’s room, stand mattresses on their side. Leave the cupboards and wardrobe doors open. This will show there’s nothing of value hidden away.
